Hiya Kay, glad to hear jamie is doing so well with Dore.

As for this teachers aide, she is bullying your son, who has a disabilty,(invisible or not) she wouldnt dare talk to a kid in a wheel chair like that.  REPORT HER NOW!!!!!! Contact the head and tell him you want a meeting with him/her and explain your concerns (dont be fobbed off and maybe take someone with you too?) Tell him that you will be filing a complaint against this person under the Disability Discrimination Act if it is not dealt with swiftly and effectivly. Your son has a right to feel safe and happy in his school environment.  For more advice ring The advisory centre for Education and they will be able to give you all the quotes you need from policies such as 'The every child matters policy' and the disability discrimination act  This is their number General advice line (Mon-Fri 10am-5pm): 0808 800 5793 ...they are really lovely people and very helpful.

I hope you get this matter resolved, not only for yours and Jamies peace of mind, but for any other child with an SEN she may come across.  Does jamie have an IEP? If you feel his work is NOT being differentied for him you MUST speak to his SENco.  This is a really important school yr for him, dont let these people ruin it for him. ACT NOW!!!!! We are the only ones that can do it for our kids....just ask the teacher (sub teacher at that) that told Jordan 'Dont tell your mother I kept you in because of your dyspraxia, you blame everything on your dyspraxia, you need to face it your just a very horrible, naughty boy!' ..This is as she is pointing her finger in his face, nose to nose inches away from him as he is backed up against the wall...shame she didnt check to make sure Id left the cloakroom first!!!!  Needless to say the head teacher heard the words 'educational lawyer', 'board of governors' 'disability discrimination act' very loudly....This was because Id complained the night before because she had kept him behind to finish his work (after school) without my permission AND she'd made him copy from the board, when his IEP clearly stated work must be copied for him on to yellow A4 sheets!!  Never had any problems with school since...suprisingly!!!

    Good Luck xx

    hi eraina,

thank you for your advise, i went to pick my son up from sch today i asked how his day had gone, and if the teacher conserned had said anything else to him, he said she had said to him........you are like a 2 year old......i was fuming but kept my calm, i went into the sch said i had a complaint about this teacher(helper), jamies own teacher came out to see me, he is very nice, well i told him about what this teacher(helper) had said to jamie both times, he asked jamie to explaine what had gone on, i told jamies teacher that i wasnt happy at all, and i wouldnt stand for anyone putting jamie down like that, and it had to stop, he was very good, said he had got a meeting with her shortly so would have a word, i told him i would take it further if this didnt stop, i`ll see what happens now, if i do hear anything from my son about this teacher(helper) i will take your advise and take it much further, thank you again, your advise is well worth nowing, kay xx

hiya Kay, well done for speaking to his teacher.  It does take some nerve when you are angry, upset and emotional..and know you are likely to burst into tears at any given moment! if you go on the DfES website you can order a copy of  the SEN codes of practice and the Disability discrimnation Act...much of which wont be relevant to you (its as thick as a phone book!) but has some very important points in there.  See if you can download or order a copy of the 'Every Child Matters' policy too...Even if it looks like the matter may have been resolved..for now...just in case...   Keep checking with Jamie every day, and do explain to him that you arnt cross with HIM, but that this teachers Aide is in the wrong for treating him that way..you know how kids can think..Id hate him to think it was HIS fault.  Keep a log of incidents, including yesterday, and when you see his teacher tonight ask him what was said and what the response was.(I have NO DOUBT she will have denied it)  Make sure you are happy with the response and outcome.  If you arnt then its time to arrange a meeting with the class teacher and the Head master, with a written complaint (this has to go on file then) and TELL them it HAS to stop or the matter WILL be taken further.  (this is where you drop in  that you have taken advice regarding the DD ACT and would like to see a copy of the schools Anti- Bullying Policy) Anyway that may be academic as the matter may have been resolved..Id love to hear the outcome later today...

Sack Jordans teacher? nah, no way...there more than one way to skin a cat...she aint having the easy way out....

It's is sooooooooo hard not to blub I know, we quoted the Disability Descrimination Act in 1 letter and the Head said Dyslexia wasn't a disabilty and went on about how we shouldn't let him think he was disabled--- as if we would we would EVER use that word to  Matthew and I don't consider him disabled in the sense that she was using it, more in a "not as able in some scenarios" sense. And of course in that particular instance. They absolutely hate getting things in writing as it's on record.

what a ridiculous person his Head teacher is!!!! having a Specific Learning Difficulty doesnt mean you are 'disabled'...BUT it does mean you can use the Disability Discrimination Act if you child is being discriminated againest!!!! (Part IV, Section 29 DDA)  Dyslexia and  Dyspraxia are 'Specific Learning Difficulties' as defined on Pg 92, section 7.58 of the SEN Codes of Practice.

Putting things in writing, no matter how trivial it may seem is a good plan.

hi lelly, they seemed to wanted to make you feel guilty, by turning this round onto you, they didnt like it because you wasnt scared to stick up for your child, some of them(i wont say all) think they are aboue us, they have no right to treat or speak to our children the way that makes our children feel upset and like nothing, speak soon kay xx

If I were you kayc, I would check if the teachers' helper is going to be present at the Parents Evening. In my school, we are given the opportunity to have a separate meeting with the helper, but usually they don't work in the evenings, so it doesn't work out. In the past, we have been given feedback from the teacher, and if we have any further questions, the teacher will find out and come back to us.

Good luck - I have a Parents Evening next week so will report back later.

Re: hi everyone, havent been on in ages

I tried for 3 months to sort out a bullying Teacher.  I tried the head, board of gov's etc. The last straw was when a TA picked on him.  My son will probably never attend school ever again because of them.  I teach him from home and I am knackered, have no life and no money. But he is my son and I love him, its his call. I will do it until he is brave enough to hopefully attend college or do an apprentiship.

I chose to have him, he didnt choose to be born or have dyslexia. I just pray God gives me the strength and ability to see this through.

Hiya sarah, sorry to hear that you have had such a horrible experience with school too.  Do you think perhaps your son will ever go back? It must be quite a scary thought for him...Is there not a different school that he could attend, perhaps on a part-time basis for a while? if he was ready? (Id love my kids to go to out Montessori school but Id just never be able to afford it)  Hopefully Dore will help him with the dyslexia and will also help with his self esteem and confidence too. now just to sort you out.....lol...although we probably cant do much more than listen and try and give you some moral support at least you know we are here **big hugs and huuuuuuuge glass of wine **

Nope I get 'diddly squat'.  I did try to get a rebate on my council tax!!!!.

Norwich Childrens Library is really good and FREE!!!!  I've got Jacob into Tesco's FREE football training next week too.

Thanx for the link I have been sent that one by the Home Ed Manager from LEA, but again it's reminded me to have a look again.

Dont forget some of you out there who have children with learning difficulties you CAN apply for disability living allowance, which can mean up to £70 p/w
