Well, my son had an appointment today in Kenilworth. This is the latest info for all of you waiting -
At present there are only two PS with a third starting later this week. They have lists of contacts to make, and their phones are red hot trying to contact people in order of appt. date. You are offered the opportunity of an appt only in Kenilworth at the moment.. Obviously this will not be feasible for many, and the My Dore facility is the best way to continue at present until further regional centres are set up. The original centres will not reopen as the premises were leased and arrangements are in the pipeline for new venues.
The new set up will be different in so far as there is much greater emphasis on using My Dore to view, mark and generate new exercises for yourself. The new exercises are generated based on how hard you marked the previous set, and your last balance, and eye tracking results. In future assessments will only be carried out every 12 weeks.
My appt lasted 45 minutes, but it was very quiet so the PS had more time to talk than maybe the case tomorrow when he is fully booked all day.
It is really worthwhile getting there if you can. My sons fabulous results on the balance test with mentals now mean his newly generated exercises are much more difficult. Hopefully this will stimulate his cerebellum more, and we will see better improvements. I'm so proud of his concentration and relaxed attitude that it makes all those arguments over mentals in the morning before school worthwhile!
Another thing which is new to me is that following recent research the advice on doing mentals has changed. This is advice given to me today and is for information only as I wouldn't wish to influence how you carry out your exercises. Wait for your own appt.
Mentals are only to be done with exercises that you find easy. All exercises that you mark hard should not be done with mentals. The cerebellum is being stimulated enough already, and emphasis should be on getting it right and concentrating hard.
Great news!
