    APPOINTMENT!

    YEEHAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

Jamie and I had an appointment today! The company went into receivership an hour before our first appointment and they are trying to see people first who were due the day things went pear shaped.  We had to travel up to near Birmingham for it but at least we got seen.  I was told that the appointments are shorter than they used to be to try to fit everyone in but having not had an appointment yet how are we to know  - I am just so pleased having persevered that things seem to be coming around.  They said that they are spacing out appointments supported by the “My Dore” site and that by the time we come to our next appointment we should be able to go to a centre nearer home – but I don’t care if we have to keep travelling as long as we get seen!  Very, very happy!!

Brilliant news, but I would love to know a bit more. Where did you go? how long was the appointment? how much notcie did you get that you could go for an appointment?

Hope the programme goes well for you, we saw results for Chris (autistic and dyspraxic) quickly. Still only just over 3 months in, so a long way to go yet. Slight improvement in Jonathan (dyspraxic), but he has only been doing it for 8 weeks so far.

    Re: APPOINTMENT!

We have our 3rd follow up appointment at Kenilworth tomorrow! Had a phone call last thursday afternoon offering the appointment as our cancelled one at the Southampton centre was the afternoon Dore went into administration. Apparently they are phoning people in date order of when they were due, but only at the Kenilworth centre, so as you can imagine there are thousands of us to contact from all over the Uk for what is an extremely limited service at the moment.

Will make a day trip of it, and lucky because my son has an inset day tomorrow so won't even miss any school!

Will post more info on length of appt etc soon

No only Kenilworth. I don't know how many members of staff are there so I think it is a very limited service at the moment.

People will be contacted in order of when their appt was due. Ours was 23rd May.

Well that is two f you so far it will take them months though surely to get us all through the assessment with only Kenilworth in operation. Kenilworth isn't in Birmingham where Hope went is it? Not very good at geograhy.

You went to the same center as we did Southampton Olliesmum we had our appointment a week before the center closed. I do not mind where we go as long as they are up and running again. Ellie XXX

    Re: APPOINTMENT!

Kennilworth is 18 miles south of Birmingham! That's where we went - it's the only centre open at the moment but they are working on getting "new" locations - it won't be the old centres aparently but things are happening.  They are going in date order though and we only got notified on Friday.  We made a trip of it and went to Cadbury World on Sunday (using up our Tesco vouchers) and stayed up for the night.

The lady who works there is the lady in the My Dore videos.

     Hang on in there!

    Re: APPOINTMENT!

We had the phone call this morning!!!!!! We go on Friday but we did have the choice of next week also! The appointment will be 45 mins so as to fit in as many people as possible. His last appt was due on 27th May 08 so you should hear soon May!!Smile

We were offered to just carry on with MY Dore until the new franchises open up nearer to home- but I feel without the assessment we don't know what progress is being made and whether we are nearing the end!

Janice - that's great news. I would travel too for sure (it will be about 3 hrs from Kent, but worth it). They seem to be moving along quite quickly don't they? Mine was due for 3rd June, so not long for me either (fingers crossed).

    Re: APPOINTMENT!

Well, my son had an appointment today in Kenilworth. This is the latest info for all of you waiting -

At present there are only two PS with a third starting later this week. They have lists of contacts to make, and their phones are red hot trying to contact people in order of appt. date. You are offered the opportunity of an appt only in Kenilworth at the moment.. Obviously this will not be feasible for many, and the My Dore facility is the best way to continue at present until further regional centres are set up. The original centres will not reopen as the premises were leased and arrangements are in the pipeline for new venues.

The new set up will be different in so far as there is much greater emphasis on using My Dore to view, mark and generate new exercises for yourself. The new exercises are generated based on how hard you marked the previous set, and your last balance, and eye tracking results. In future assessments will only be carried out every 12 weeks.

My appt lasted 45 minutes, but it was very quiet so the PS had more time to talk than maybe the case tomorrow when he is fully booked all day.

It is really worthwhile getting there if you can. My sons fabulous results on the balance test with mentals now mean his newly generated exercises are much more difficult. Hopefully this will stimulate his cerebellum more, and we will see better improvements. I'm so proud of his concentration and relaxed attitude that it makes all those arguments over mentals in the morning before school worthwhile!

Another thing which is new to me is that following recent research the advice on doing mentals has changed. This is advice given to me today and is for information only as I wouldn't wish to influence how you carry out your exercises. Wait for your own appt.

Mentals are only to be done with exercises that you find easy. All exercises that you mark hard should not be done with mentals. The cerebellum is being stimulated enough already, and emphasis should be on getting it right and concentrating hard.

    Great news!

    Re: APPOINTMENT!

    Hi Olliesmum

Ive been waiting for your post this evening and so glad everything has gone well. The feedback is great to hear. Can I ask if you had generated a new set of ex. before you went for the appointment and if this changed after the results ie a new set were then issued ? and did they give you any specific advise re using the mydiary etc ?
